Akima Singers:
Practicing weekly, this enthusiastic and talented committee performs their repertoire at nursing homes, other club meetings, hospitals, etc. This committe brings awareness about the club to the community and helps to raise funds for the club. Children's Enrichment:
Participating in the Knox County Schools "Read with Me" program. Serving as hostesses for hundreds of school children who attend Bijou Theatre productions. Assisting with Big Brothers Big Sisters events. Chair: Betty Lane, Co-Chair: Michelle Broyles.

Community Action:
This Committee assists with the Knoxville Symphony Showcase House, Race For the Cure, Nativity Pageant, Mobile Meals, Art in the Park, A Very Special Arts, Fantasy of Trees, and many other community activities.

Helen Ross McNabb:
Directly involved with programs at the center, including the Therapeutic Preschool, Healthy Ffamilies, RIP, and Redirections. Members also assist with the Summer Games, Christmas parties, Halloween parties, Easter Egg Hunt, and other activites as needed. Lastly, supplying food and materials to the center. On Going Projects:
Career Closet: In cooperation with the Retired Senior Volunteer Program, outfitting low income individuals with professional attire to wear to job interviews, with the hopes of breaking the cycle of poverty, welfare, or homelessness. Chair: Cheryl Kizer Sharpe, Co-Chair: Pam Danton Sertoma Center: Providing volunteers for fundraising efforts, including the Sertoma Gala and Garage Sale, the Kent Withers Golf Challenge, and the Cruise and Travel Show. Additionally, Akima members provided Christmas gifts for Sertoma clients. Chair: Lisa Lambert, Co-Chair: Sue Walker. National Kidney Foundation: Assisting with Chocolate Fest, Playhouse Village, and Avalon Golf Tournament. Chair: Marie Frye, Co-Chair: Lori Dillahunty. The Ronald McDonald House: Assisting in decorating for Christmas. Providing hot meals for Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, Mother's Day, and Father's Day. Providing casseroles for week-day meals, and fresh milk and eggs regularly. Keeping the food pantry replenished and organizing the clothes closet. Assisting with charity auction in June. Working the annual golf tournament at Egwani Farms. Chair: Stacy Moody, Co-Chair: Mimi Moran.

Outreach:
Hosting entertainment at various nursing homes, hospitals, and special audiences. Chair: Julie Mirts, Co-Chair for Special Audiences and Hospitals: Becky Thompson, Co-Chair for Seniors: Marlene Vivarec.

Sunshine Industries:
Providing cupcakes each month for clients' birthdays. Assisting with Special Olympics events. Providing for clients the annual Christmas party, complete with lots of food, goody bags, and a visit from Santa and his elves. Chair: Tracey Whitt, Co-Chair: Becky Blackenbeckler.
